2.How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used exclusively to:

Operate and maintain the App, including delivering panchangam and spiritual content
Monitor app performance, diagnose crashes, and fix technical issues
Understand how features are used to guide future improvements
Verify subscription status and unlock Prime features accordingly
Send push notifications for daily spiritual reminders (only if you opt in)
Display contextually relevant advertisements to free-tier users via AdMob

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

4.Advertising & AdMob

Free-tier users see banner advertisements powered by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your Advertising ID (GAID on Android, IDFA on iOS) to show personalized ads based on your interests.

Prime subscribers do not see any advertisements. Ads are completely removed upon an active Tamil Star Calendar Prime subscription.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
iOS: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable Allow Apps to Request to Track

We comply with Google’s EU User Consent Policy and, where required, display a consent prompt before showing personalized ads.

5.Subscriptions & Payments

All payment processing for Tamil Star Calendar Prime subscriptions is handled entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). We do not collect, store, or process any payment card or billing information.

We only receive confirmation of subscription status (active/inactive) from the platform to enable or disable Prime features within the App.

6.Push Notifications

Tamil Star Calendar may send you daily push notifications with panchangam highlights and spiritual reminders. These are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

Notifications are opt-in. You can enable or disable them at any time:

Android: Settings → Apps → Tamil Star Calendar → Notifications
iOS: Settings → Notifications → Tamil Star Calendar

We do not use push notifications for marketing or promotional messages from third parties.

7.Data Retention

We retain usage analytics and crash data only as long as necessary to provide and improve the App, in accordance with Firebase’s data retention settings (typically up to 14 months for analytics).

If you have a Firebase account linked to the App, you may request deletion of your account data by contacting us. Anonymous usage data collected prior to account creation cannot be linked back to you and may be retained in aggregate form.

8.Children’s Privacy

Tamil Star Calendar is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9.Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information
Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data
Opt-out: Disable analytics, notifications, or personalized ads at any time
Portability: Receive your data in a portable format where applicable

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond within 30 days.

Users in the European Union (GDPR), California (CCPA), and India (DPDP Act 2023) have additional specific rights under their respective data protection laws. We honor these rights upon verified request.

10.Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we collect. These include:

Data transmitted between the App and Firebase servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
Firebase Security Rules restrict unauthorized access to user data in Firestore
We do not store payment information — all billing is handled by Google Play and Apple

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11.International Users

Tamil Star Calendar is developed in India and is primarily intended for Tamil-speaking users worldwide — including the Indian diaspora in the US, UK, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond.

By using the App from outside India, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in India and on Google’s global Firebase infrastructure, which may be located in different countries. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable laws.

12.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable laws. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

For significant changes, we may notify you via a push notification or an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
